Hands On Holiday: Winter Solstice with the Waldorf School of Baltimore

In the Hands On Holiday event series, the Waldorf School of Baltimore leads festive seasonal children’s and family events on the back patio at the Ivy Bookshop. On December 21, bundle up and join them for a fun and special evening celebration. This program is best for children up to age 8 and will include songs, story time, a holiday craft and a very special candlelit walk around the evergreen spiral. We will end the evening departing with a warm cup of cocoa.

Each year as the Winter Solstice approaches, Waldorf Schools hold the quiet festival of the Winter Spiral. The spiral is ancient and symbolizes the inward-turning we tend to experience as the night grows longer and cold drives us indoors. We think you will find it is simple yet profound experience and a wonderful way to celebrate the season.
